Lithuania VilniusTravel Tips!!

About Lithuanina

Lithuania is one of the Baltic countries. It is one of the least famous tourist destinations in Korea where I live. It is located on the border between Europe and Russia, so it is labeled Europe on some maps, but not Europe on some maps. Prices in this country are cheaper than in other Baltic countries. If you travel in this country, I recommend that you visit Bilnius, Trakai Castle, and the Cross Hill. First of all, in this posting, I'll only fill out the trip to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

About Vilnius Travel

As I said before, the city is the capital of Lithuania. Old Town is the largest of the three Baltic countries.
Many travelers visit Old Town. The place is filled with baroque buildings, so it feels unique. It is a city that shows the history of this country, which used to have a large territory.
You don't have to have a long schedule if you're just wandering around Old Town. You'll be able to travel all around here in a day.

What to See in Vilnius, Lithuania?

Vilnius Cathedral

When I first saw the cathedral of Vilnius, I was overwhelmed by its grandeur. In the middle of a large square is a huge cathedral with white walls.
The square around it is always crowded with many travelers and residents.
I think it is a place that shows the cultural significance of the cathedral in European culture.
Lithuania was the last of the European countries to accept Christianity, which still bears the traces of Percunas that it had previously believed.

Gedminas Castle

Gedminas Castle

Currently, only the Tower remains. You can go around the back of the cathedral and up the hill. You can use a cable car, but I recommend you walk up because it is not high.
If you go up this hill, you can see the New Towns and Old Towns that are divided along the river. It's good to see the difference between the two cities at a glance.
The old city is well preserved in medieval times, as it is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Watching the scenery created by the red roofs can give you the feeling of being in the Middle Ages.
On the hill many young people are sitting and spending their time.

University of Villnius

University of Villnius

Founded in 1568, it is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The university building itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and travelers have to pay admission fees. Because it is a cultural heritage, there are not many amenities for travelers, and there are many facilities for the preservation of buildings.
Looking inside the building, the hallways connected to the classroom are labelled like a maze. College bookstores, cathedrals, and classrooms can be roamed. Since the buildings inside are old, the sound of trees or old molds makes it easy to imagine how old this building is.

Užupis

Užupis

It is an area called the village of art of Villnius. It used to be an abandoned area, but thanks to the concept of the village, it is loved by many travelers. Especially on April 1st, April Fool's Day, they declare their independence. You need a passport to get in.
You can see languages and flags from all over the world, and various graffiti arts are painted in the whole village. You can feel as if you were in a fairy tale.

Vilnius is a good city to travel in because there are many things to see in a small city.
