Peru Cusco Travel Tips and Review!

About Cusco

As other postings said, Peru was the best country to travel to South America. I felt a lot when I saw their culture that has been keeping old civilization, and I could feel the difference between new civilization.
Cusco was the capital of the Inca civilization. There was a big demonstration there when I visited. Looking at it, I realized that the city of Cusco was very important mentally to them.
So I ask travelers to visit Cusco to feel Peru.
If you want to visit Machu Picchu, Cusco is forced to stop by. If I travel to South America again, I want to stay in Cusco for a longer time and look at the city.

This city is well preserved for its old buildings. That is not without a new culture. They are creating a new culture for travelers. If you look at the picture above, you can see that there is Starbucks, too.
If you travel through Cusco to other places or Trekking, I hope you buy the think clothes they make. It's affordable in this city.

What to do in Cusco?

What can you see in Cusco?
In fact, Cusco is not a city with more things to see than you think. There are also many travelers going elsewhere or stopping by and passing for Trekking.

First of all, there is the Plaza de Armas, which shows Peru's culture best. Most of the Spanish-speaking countries I've been to had this central square. Perhaps it is characteristic of these cultural cities. These squares show the city at a glance. Cusco's square shows a cozy atmosphere.

The second is the twelve-sided stone.
Many travelers take pictures in front of this stone. In fact, there is no feeling of much speciality, but it is said that architecture does not have an easy position and shape. Since it's near Armas Square, let's take a picture.

The third is San Pedro Market.
Market is one of the must stop by wherever you travel. This is because people in the city can eat foods that feel very different from the foods we usually eat. It doesn't matter if you can't eat food that's too strong. Just eating corn and potatoes growing in high mountains will make you feel better here.
And if you walk around the alleys of the whole city, there are a variety of shops. Make sure to buy the items you needed while moving.
Of course, Discount is essential.

Cusco is a hilly city. So it is good to have a view of the city when you go up the high hill. In particular, the street-lighted city at night leaves an unforgettable impression.
If you think it's dangerous to walk around at night, recommend going with people around you, or use the accommodation on the hill.

What to eat in Cusco?

Because Peru has many high mountains, the plants that grow in the high mountains are special.
Especially, in Peru, they grow thousands of potatoes. I don't know if you've tried it all, but check to see if it's any different from other potatoes.
Also, there is a kind of corn that is the size of a nail. Walking around the city, there are people selling corn when you see them, and I hope you try this too.
And there is a unique menu that I felt while traveling in Spanish countries. You can often see Menu del dia in restaurants, but you can think of it as a lunch set. It was the best for a poor traveler because it was cheaper than other menus.
In Peru, salads, rice, potatoes, and selectable main menu are usually sold on one plate. The main menu is for fish, beef, and chicken.

There is also Anticuchos which many travelers like. It's easy to think of it as a cow's heart skewer ball. Some are sold on the street and some are sold in restaurants, but it's hard to eat elsewhere, so try it.

I like a city with many travelers.
Cities with many travelers are always active. And you can meet them and talk to them and have a new experience.
The good thing about Cusco is not just that there are many travelers. There are many people in this city who go on different trips. So it is an easy place to find the movements of the next destination and make new memories with them.

Sometimes it is good to visit without a special destination and go where a new friend wants to go.
