Huaraz, Peru - Best City for Trekking in South America

Have you ever traveled to Peru, South America?

If you are Asian or European, traveling to Peru is not as easy as you think. First of all, most of the routes that fly through the U.S. So you may have to spend a lot of your vacation in planes and airports. It took almost 20 hours to arrive in Korea where I live.
Since most parts of Peru are in high mountains, you may suffer from altitude sickness from the moment you arrive.

I have visited various countries in South America, of which Peru is the most memorable. I still miss their pride in the Inca civilization and the food they could eat because it was high in the mountains.

At this post, I will write about Huaraz, one of Peru's cities.
If you like Trekking, make sure to travel this city.

Huaraz

As you can see from Huaraz map, it is a small city located on a high mountain. This is the place used as a base camp for travelers doing trekking.
You can get here by bus from Lima, the capital of Peru.
Thanks to travelers, there are many lodgings here, restaurants and an active market.
It is a busy city from the early hours because trekking usually starts at dawn. People from all quarters drive together to the course they want.
There are some lodges where have their own trekking systems, and there are lodges where operate trekking in combination with others.

You can enjoy relaxation with other travelers in this city, or you can go Trekking with them.

The explanation for rest varies from person to person, so let's talk about the Trekking course. There are three courses used by the most people around me.

1. Laguna PARON
2. Pastoruri Glacier
3. Laguna 69

Laguna Paron (Height : 4,200m)

Pastoruri Glacier (Height : 5,250m)

Laguna 69 (Height : 4,600m)

The courses I went to were Pastoruri Glacier and Laguna 69.
It would be nice to have a detailed description of the three courses, but it would be more helpful to hear the appropriate explanation from your lodge rather than from me.

I wrote "Height" for reference, but all three of them are high mountains, so the hard work is the same. Galcier's case is high, but it's not hard because the walk is short. In the case of Laguna 69, the length of the walk is longer, making it even harder.

Which course should you choose?

You may have seen other people's information and set the course you want to go before you get to Huaraz, or you may have gone without any plans. Personally, I think both cases are the same.
Because what someone has written down is likely to be subjective because it is not the one that went and wrote all the courses in Huaraz. As you know, there are many physical differences between people, so it's hard to refer to.
So what I recommend is to listen to the opinions of the person who experienced it firsthand after arriving at the lodge or the person who works at the lodge.
Their opinions are most important because there are a lot of experienced experts waiting in the Lodge you will use.
Some courses can be taken on a day's basis, and some must spend several days. It's not a difficult course to spend a long time on.

Whichever course you choose, you'll see a landscape you haven't seen in your life.
